Although ViaLactia has strong in-house science and commercialisation capabilities, we recognise that partnering accelerates the discovery and commercialisation of new products. ViaLactia works with the best in the world in order to achieve our mission.

We have established strategic collaborations with global companies and have secured access to leading academic talent. We seek relationships built on trust, complementarity, synergies and durability.

BoviQuest

BoviQuest is a joint venture between ViaLactia Biosciences and Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC).

BoviQuest's mission is to create sustainable solutions for dairy farmers worldwide through bovine genomics, using leading edge research, data from alliances and publicly available sources, innovative technology and rapid gene dissemination. Consequently, BoviQuest's research focus is on improving the genetic gain of dairy cows.

Pastoral Genomics

The New Zealand dairy, meat and deer industries have combined to use modern biotechnology techniques for improved pasture performance and extended growing season.

Pastoral Genomics -- a joint venture of Fonterra subsidiary ViaLactia Biosciences (NZ) Ltd, Meat And Wool New Zealand, DEEResearch and the Crown Research Institute AgResearch -- is discovering how ryegrass and white clover genes influence pasture performance, with a view to lifting the productivity of the farming sector.

The joint venture has received funding from Government worth NZ$12 (US$7) million over five years. The partners, along with Dairy InSight, are together contributing at least as much.

The programme is based on a novel gene and marker discovery technology called GeneThresher™, developed by US biotechnology company Orion Genomics.
